Two to Tango

I read about an article about a traffic police soliciting for bribes and at the same time sexually harrassing two ladies at a roadblock in Cheras. Why should the two ladies be victimised? We want Malaysia to be a developed nation and Kuala Lumpur to attain the status of a developed city. Is that the price to pay?

We know very well the importance of enforcement in our quest to achieve a developed nation. The law enforcement officers are considered the machinery in maintaining an orderly manner and they also have to deal with hawkers, vandals, jaywalkers and the list goes on. This does not give the police the mandate to take law into their own hands.

At Malaysia, we are the firsts in all things. First in Malaysia Boleh, Vision 2020, culture of excellence in 1 Malaysia concept etc. We certainly do not want to be the first in corruption, sexual harrassment and crime rate.

Just when the police have been in bad light, it is shocking to note that there are bad hats in the police force. It could be a tip of the iceberg and many more may have gone unreported.

It takes two to tango, not only the law enforcement officers but the public must play their part in ensuring Malaysia attains a developed nation. Ladies must be mindful of their conduct and do not become victims of sexual harrassment moving forward.

Something for sharing.
